The FTdx10 is a Hybrid radio utilizing Roofing Filters and conversion whereas the FT-710, more like the ICOM IC-7300 is a true, straight, SDR radio.. Another difference is the FTdx-10 has CW Decode whereas the FT-710 is missing that feature, if you use it.

One will be 50 watts, the other will be 10 watts and cover 160-10m.FTdx10 blocking is higher than the ADC overload protection level of the FT-710. Moving the volume control to the right of the tuning knob compared to the left of the tuning knob is a big improvement for right handed operators compared to the FTdx10. Initial impressions are the user interface is identical to the FTdx10. Overall the Yaesu makes the three different watt level versions for the Japanese license class in the FTDX10.
